Romantic Beach Photoshoot with Surprise Proposal | Outer Banks
What a day it was! When Lexi first reached out to me about a couple’s session, she mentioned that she and her boyfriend, James, had never had professional photos taken before. Little did she know, James had his own plans in mind! Shortly after, he reached out to let me in on his big secret—he was planning to propose during the session!
From a photographer’s perspective, capturing a proposal during a planned shoot is a dreeeeeeam come true! The couple is dressed up, the moment is beautifully set, and there’s no need for any sneaky setups. To make their session even more special, we decided to split it into two parts: one with more formal outfits and another that reflected their shared love for fishing.
However, on the day of the shoot, they realized they had forgotten their fishing poles. I did my best to find some for them because I wanted everything to be perfect, but in the end, it didn’t matter—what made the session truly special was them. Lexi and James are such a joy to be around, and the time just flew by.
As the sun started to dip toward the horizon, James took the perfect moment to drop to one knee, the ocean waves rolling behind him. Lexi was completely surprised and beyond excited!!! Needless to say that the session ended with a newly engaged couple!
